Feline

"Feline" is the seventh studio album by The Stranglers, a British rock band. The album was released in January 1983 by the Epic Records label. It was their first album to feature the three-piece drum kit. "Feline" drew heavily from Two-tone, developing a dance-friendly yet edgy compilation, dipping into Europop. This reflected the growing European influence upon the group, with vocalist Hugh Cornwell's French girlfriend, as well as the band's drummer, Jet Black's relocation to the southern borders of the continent.

The album includes singles like "European Female", which reached number 9 in the UK Singles Chart, and "Midnight Summer Dream". "European Female" helped the album itself to become a no. 4 in the UK Albums Chart. It was the first Stranglers album to feature acoustic guitar, and the band cited it for standing them outside the general punk movement from their early career. The album cover artwork was commissioned by Polish artist Stefan Knapp.

Overall, the album reflects a slight change in The Stranglers' sound, moving away from the darker punk rock of their earlier albums toward a more pop-oriented, commercial sound, albeit still imbued with their signature aggression and aesthetic.
