One Night Only (Thin Lizzy album)

"One Night Only" is a live album by the rock band Thin Lizzy, released in 2000. The album captures performances from the band's reunion concerts, which began in 1994 to commemorate ten years since their initial split in 1984.

During these reunion concerts, guitarist John Sykes took on the role of lead vocalist, a departure from the band's classic lineup where Phil Lynott was the frontman. Marco Mendoza joined on bass for these performances. The reformation was initially successful and popular among fans, prompting additional concerts.

However, by the time "One Night Only" was released in 2000, original drummer Brian Downey had decided to retire from the group, citing disorganization as a factor. Keyboardist Darren Wharton also departed around the same time as the album's release. This left John Sykes and Scott Gorham as the mainstays of the lineup.

To fill the drummer role for the live album and subsequent performances, Thin Lizzy recruited Tommy Aldridge, known for his work with artists like Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, and Black Oak Arkansas.

"One Night Only" features a selection of Thin Lizzy's classic songs performed live, showcasing Sykes' vocals and the band's enduring appeal in a live setting. Despite lineup changes over the years, Thin Lizzy has continued to perform with various configurations, maintaining their legacy in rock music.
