Quo

"Quo" is the seventh studio album by British rock band Status Quo. Released under the Vertigo Records label in May 1974, the album features Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster, and John Coghlan in the band's line-up. It was one of four albums that the band did with producer Damon Lyon-Shaw. Known for their boogie rock style, Status Quo did not disappoint fans with the 'Quo' album as it continued to showcase their trademark style.

Opening with the track "Backwater", the album proceeds to deliver energetically charged hits including "Just Take Me", "Break the Rules", and "Drifting Away". The album includes mainly original content from the band, featuring Rossi and Parfitt as foremost contributors to lyrics and composition.

"Quo" received commendable reviews, with the single "Break the Rules" peaking at No. 8 in the UK Singles Chart. The album itself was also successful, reaching No. 2 in the UK Albums Chart and further reinforcing the band's popularity during the 1970s. Despite its success, it was not until later that the album was formally released in the U.S.

Despite the distinctly rock and roll vibe, the band still managed to incorporate varying styles and a range of dynamic levels throughout the album, delivering a diverse sound that appealed to masses and solidified their standing in the British rock scene.
