"Slaves and Masters" is the thirteenth studio album by Deep Purple, released on October 22, 1990. This album is notable for featuring former Rainbow vocalist Joe Lynn Turner, who replaced Ian Gillan. The band had briefly considered Jimi Jamison for the role but ultimately hired Turner.

Upon release, Slaves and Masters peaked at No. 87 on the US Billboard 200, selling below expectations compared to their previous album, The House of Blue Light, which reached No. 34. Despite its lackluster sales, the band enjoyed a successful European tour in 1991. The recording sessions included a track that was later rearranged for the movie Fire, Ice and Dynamite, although Jon Lord did not participate in that particular song.
