Animal Magnetism

"Animal Magnetism" is the seventh studio album by the German rock band Scorpions, released in 1980. Transcending the firm rock and roll roots they had set in their earlier work, "Animal Magnetism" featured more polished hard rock sound with elements of heavy music. The album was produced by Dieter Dierks and marked the inclusion of many songs that became fan favorites, including the title track, "Animal Magnetism," and the ballad, "Lady Starlight."

Lead vocalist Klaus Meine, along with guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs, created a unique synergy of hard rock and heavy music in this album, with a tinge of blues, manifesting the Scorpions' versatility as musicians. "Make It Real" and "The Zoo" were largely popular as they incorporated mesmerizing guitar riffs and compelling drum beats, ensuring commercial success for the album.

The album’s cover art, designed by Hipgnosis and Storm Thorgerson, is also highly recognized, featuring a woman kneeling in front of a man and a Doberman Pinscher sitting in front of the man in a way that creates a sense of hierarchy.
