"Plectrumelectrum" is the thirty-sixth studio album by Prince and marks the only collaboration with his backing band 3rdeyegirl. Released on September 26, 2014, by NPG Records under a renewed license to Warner Bros. Records, the album received generally positive reviews from critics. It was released alongside Art Official Age, showcasing Prince's diverse musical range during that period.

According to Randall Roberts of the Los Angeles Times, Plectrumelectrum is characterized by Prince's "noble weirdness" and "sense of humor," blending rock with his signature sound effects. Abigail Covington from The A.V. Club noted the album's straightforward funk approach, describing it as hovering near the "shallow shores" of rock 'n' roll. Rolling Stone's Jon Dolan referred to it as a collection of "exploratory funk-rock jams," highlighting its experimental nature within the genre.

Plectrumelectrum debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200, selling 26,000 copies in its first week. In its second week, it dropped to number 47, with an additional 7,000 copies sold, bringing the total to 33,000 copies.
