Miscellaneous Debris

"Miscellaneous Debris" is an EP by the American rock band Primus, released on March 12, 1992. Unlike their major label debut album released the previous year, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, this album features the band covering songs by other artists. The five-track recording consists of work by artists such as Peter Gabriel, Stanley Clarke, and Pink Floyd. This project marked one of Primus' earliest experiments, showcasing their unique take on others' music while also reflecting their own distinctive style. It served as a departure from their usual output and provided an intriguing insight into their musical influences.

The members of the band at the time consisted of Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde, and Tim "Herb" Alexander. Claypool, the frontman, handled the vocals, bass, and everything in between with mastery. LaLonde supplied the idiosyncratic guitar work that allowed Primus to stand out in the rock scene. Alexander's powerful drumming gave the band a distinctive rhythmic foundation.

While the album didn't achieve the level of commercial success that its successor Pork Soda would, it was warmly received by critics and fans alike. It presented a more disciplined side of Primus, exhibiting their musicianship beyond the quirky, frenetic tempos they were known for.
