Every Country's Sun

"Every Country's Sun" is the ninth studio album by Scottish post-rock band Mogwai. Released on 1 September 2017, it came out through Rock Action Records in the United Kingdom and Europe, Temporary Residence Limited in the United States, and Spunk Records in Australia.

In April 2016, guitarist Stuart Braithwaite informed The Guardian that Mogwai were in the process of writing new material and planned to travel to the US later in the year to record with Dave Fridmann, who had previously produced their 2001 album Rock Action. By November 25, Fridmann confirmed that recording had commenced. On March 3, 2017, the band announced that they had finished recording and were mastering the album at Abbey Road Studios. They also revealed plans for a worldwide tour to promote the album, beginning with European dates in October, followed by North American shows in November, and culminating with performances in their home city of Glasgow in December 2017.

On May 14, 2017, Mogwai unveiled the title and release date of the new album, along with the first single, "Coolverine". The band also performed a special show at Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona on June 2, where they played Every Country's Sun in its entirety.
