Creatures of the Night

"Creatures of the Night" is the tenth studio album by the American rock band Kiss, released on October 13, 1982. This album marked a turning point for the band as they sought to return to a harder rock sound after experimenting with pop and disco influences in their previous albums. "Creatures of the Night" is often noted for its heavier sound in comparison to the band's late-1970s output.

The album was produced by Michael James Jackson, Paul Stanley, and Gene Simmons. It was the band's last album for Casablanca Records, and it marked the final Kiss album to feature drummer Eric Carr before his death in 1991. Although Ace Frehley is credited as a guitarist, most of his parts were actually performed by session musicians. Due to internal conflicts and Frehley’s diminishing involvement with the band, other guitarists such as Vinnie Vincent, Bob Kulick, Robben Ford, and Steve Farris contributed to the album's guitar tracks.

"Creatures of the Night" didn't initially achieve strong commercial success, peaking only at number 45 on the Billboard 200 charts. However, it has since become appreciated by fans and critics as a classic Kiss album. It is renowned for its tracks like "I Love It Loud," "I Still Love You," and the title track "Creatures of the Night."

The album's return to a heavy rock sound was well-received, influencing later albums and Kiss's musical direction in the following years. The artwork of the album features the band members (Stanley, Simmons, Carr, and Frehley) in their stage makeup, a striking representation that was significant at a time when the band was transitioning through changes in both members and musical styles.
