Djesse Vol. 2

"Djesse Vol. 2" is the third studio album by Jacob Collier and the second installment in his ambitious Djesse series, released on July 19, 2019. The Djesse project is a four-part collection, each volume representing a different time of day. The title Djesse, pronounced with a silent D (/ˈdʒɛsi/), is often thought to be a play on Collier's initials.

The album's lead single, Make Me Cry, was released on April 12, 2019, followed by a 360° music video on April 16, 2019. The second single, a cover of The Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun," came out on April 26, 2019, featuring Dodie Clark. Both the track and its music video were produced and directed by Collier and Clark.

One of the standout tracks, Moon River, features a monumental 144-part choir composed of notable musicians like Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, and Tori Kelly, as well as Collier’s family, students and professors from Oakwood University and MIT, and thousands of vocal recordings by Collier himself. This track won the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

Djesse Vol. 2 includes collaborations with artists such as Sam Amidon, Dodie Clark, Lianne La Havas, JoJo, MARO, Oumou Sangaré, Becca Stevens, Chris Thile, Kathryn Tickell, and Steve Vai. Since the release of the first volume, Collier has been touring the world, promoting the Djesse series and continuing to innovate with his unique musical style.
