Out of Nothing

"Out of Nothing" is the fourth studio album by English rock band Embrace, released on September 13, 2004, via Independiente. This album followed the band's departure from Hut Records and a period of reduced public interest. Embrace signed with Independiente and spent time crafting new material, ultimately recording the album at Olympic Studios in London with producer Martin "Youth" Glover. Out of Nothing is characterized as an indie rock album and has been compared to the works of Coldplay and Keane.

The lead single, "Gravity," was released in August 2004, followed by UK tours. "Ashes," the second single, was released in November 2004, with "Looking as You Are" coming out in February 2005. The fourth single, "A Glorious Day," coincided with the band's shows in Leeds and was released in May 2005.

The album received generally favorable reviews, praised for its songwriting, though some found it uninspired. It topped the UK and Scottish album charts, was certified gold shortly after release, and double platinum by 2021. All singles from the album reached the top 30 in the UK and top 10 in Scotland, with "Gravity" achieving the highest peak. Out of Nothing was also listed among the best albums of the year by Stylus Magazine.
