Pendulum

"Pendulum" is the sixth studio album by the American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival. Released in December 1970, the album marks a distinctive stylistic shift from the band's typical roots rock sound, showcasing their experimentations with different musical genres including jazz and soul. For the first time, the band incorporates the use of saxophones, keyboards, and various percussion tools into their music.

The album features original material almost entirely penned by frontman John Fogerty, including notable singles like "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" and "Hey Tonight.” The former song is often touted as one of Creedence Clearwater Revival's finest works, detailing the fluctuating dynamics of relationships amidst a beautifully woven metaphor of weather changes.

"Pendulum" received generally positive reviews from critics and was moderately successful commercially. It peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. However, in spite of the album's distinctive sound and unique forays into uncharted musical territories, it was the last Creedence Clearwater Revival album to feature all four original members. Tom Fogerty, guitarist and brother of John Fogerty, departed from the band following the release of "Pendulum." Nonetheless, this album cements Creedence Clearwater Revival’s legacy as a band unafraid to experiment and push the boundaries of their sound.
