All Fall Down

"All Fall Down" is the third studio album by English post-punk band the Sound, recorded from March to August 1982 and released in October 1982 on WEA. Under pressure from their label to create a more commercially successful album after previous records struggled to gain public attention, the Sound chose to rebel, resulting in an album described as "distinctly uncommercial."

The album received poor critical reception and led to the termination of the Sound's contract with WEA. No singles were released from it. Andy Kellman of AllMusic noted that there was "no attempt at making a hit," and highlighted that the band responded to both label demands and internal pressures with a challenging record. Drummer Mike Dudley expressed frustration with the label's lack of support, stating that when WEA suggested they write more commercial songs, the band decided to forge ahead with All Fall Down instead. Released on October 23, 1982, the album failed to chart in the UK and received negative responses from critics, prompting WEA to withhold promotion and ultimately end their contract with the band.
