The Police (album)

"The Police" is a self-titled compilation album released by the band The Police on June 5, 2007. It was released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their recording debut and coincided with their reunion tour. The album features 28 tracks spread over two discs, comprising a mix of hit singles and fan favorites from their career.

Included on the compilation are all of The Police's singles except for "Secret Journey" and the 1986 version of "Don't Stand So Close to Me," though the original version from the album "Zenyatta Mondatta" is included. International editions of the album feature two bonus tracks: "The Bed's Too Big Without You" from "Reggatta de Blanc" and "Rehumanize Yourself" from "Ghost in the Machine."

Notably, the compilation includes "Fall Out," the band's non-studio album debut single originally recorded in 1977 with their first guitarist Henry Padovani. This track had previously only been included in the comprehensive box set "Message in a Box: The Complete Recordings" (1993), making "The Police" compilation the first standard release to feature it.

Upon its release, "The Police" compilation debuted at number 11 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, selling approximately 58,000 copies in its first week. The album's success underscored the enduring popularity of The Police's music and served as a fitting retrospective for both longtime fans and new listeners alike.
