Looking On

"Looking On" is the third album from the English rock band The Move, released in December 1970. The album is particularly notable because it blends various musical styles, including hard rock, pop, and progressive rock. It also marked a clear shift from the band's earlier pop-oriented material toward a more experimental and ambitious sound.

The band members during this period were Roy Wood, Bev Bevan, and Rick Price, along with newly joined Jeff Lynne, who would later go on to form Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) with Wood and Bevan. Compared to The Move's previous works, the album features heavier rock sound and complex song structures, taking on a more progressive style.

The album's opening track, "Looking On," and the single "Brontosaurus" are often highlighted as exemplary of the band's change in musical direction. "Brontosaurus" was released as a single in 1970 and reached number 7 in the UK Singles Chart. Another notable track from the album is "Feel Too Good," a near 10-minute epic that showcased The Move's progressive leanings.

Although it did not chart upon its original release, "Looking On" has since been recognized for its influence on the development of progressive and hard rock in the 1970s and has enjoyed a sort of retrospective acclaim.
