Hollies Sing Hollies

"Hollies Sing Hollies" is the ninth studio album by the British rock band the Hollies, released in November 1969 by Parlophone. This album followed closely on the heels of their earlier 1969 release, He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, which was a collection of Bob Dylan covers. Hollies Sing Hollies was the band's first album of original compositions since the departure of founding member Graham Nash earlier that year. It marked the beginning of a new era for the band, with a focus on their own material and a shift in their musical direction.

The album is notable for being the second to feature Terry Sylvester, who had joined the band as a replacement for Nash. It also featured compositions by Sylvester, alongside contributions from other band members. Notably, the album includes an instrumental track composed by bassist Bernie Calvert. The album's mix of original songs showed the band’s growing maturity, as they started to explore more complex and varied styles.

In the United States, the album was released under the title He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, which included the hit single of the same name, but omitted the tracks "Soldier's Dilemma" and "Marigold/Gloria Swansong." The US version was more commercially successful, reaching number 32 on the charts, whereas the UK release did not chart.

The album's release in 1969 marked a pivotal moment for the Hollies, as they navigated through significant lineup changes while continuing to make strides in their musical evolution.
