No Talking, Just Head

"No Talking, Just Head" is the only studio album by the Heads, featuring Jerry Harrison, Tina Weymouth, and Chris Frantz from Talking Heads, along with various guest vocalists. Released in October 1996, the album struggled both commercially and critically, leading the band members to explore other musical projects afterward.

The album's recording began in late 1994, after years of attempts to involve Talking Heads' frontman David Byrne. The title track debuted on the Virtuosity soundtrack, with recording continuing through 1995 as friends and collaborators contributed vocals. The initial plan was for this to evolve into a full-time band, complete with further studio albums and a tour featuring reimagined Talking Heads songs.

However, the project faced legal challenges when Byrne sued the group, claiming their name and branding too closely resembled Talking Heads, constituting a trademark violation. The lawsuit was settled out of court, resulting in the release of just the studio album.

The Heads toured the US in late 1996, with Johnette Napolitano taking on primary vocal duties.

Two singles were released from the album: "Damage I've Done" and "Don't Take My Kindness for Weakness," both accompanied by music videos and remixes from notable artists like Moby and Lunatic Calm. Despite the initial excitement, the project failed to gain the momentum that members had hoped for, leading to a shift in focus for the band after the album's release.
