Super Black Market Clash

"Super Black Market Clash" is a compilation album released in 1993 by the English punk rock band The Clash. It features B-sides and rare tracks that were not included on their regular studio albums. This collection expands upon the 1980 release Black Market Clash, which was a 10-inch EP containing nine songs. The cover art for both releases features Don Letts, who collaborated with The Clash on several projects and later became a founding member of Big Audio Dynamite.

Black Market Clash was initially released in October 1980, specifically for the US and Canada, positioned between the band's albums London Calling and Sandinista!. It compiled tracks that were previously unavailable in the US except as imports. This EP was part of Epic's "Nu-Disk" series, which also included works by other artists like New Musik and Cheap Trick.

The EP includes notable tracks such as "The Prisoner," a cover of "Pressure Drop" by Toots and the Maytals, "City of the Dead," and "Armagideon Time," all of which were B-sides from various singles released between 1977 and 1979. The remix of "Pressure Drop" was done by Bill Price. Additionally, "Time Is Tight," an instrumental cover by Booker T & the MGs, was exclusively featured on this release.

"Capital Radio," which was rare in the UK, had a new version recorded for The Cost of Living instead of reissuing the original. The EP also includes "Cheat," which was omitted from the US version of their debut album, and "Bankrobber," which was a UK A-side. The combined edit of "Bankrobber" and "Robber Dub" is unique to this compilation. The final track, "Justice Tonight/Kick It Over," serves as a dub version of "Armagideon Time," previously available as a B-side.

Black Market Clash saw reissues in the 1980s on 12-inch vinyl and cassette, maintaining the same track listing. It was also released on CD in 1991 but was discontinued when Super Black Market Clash came out. The EP briefly returned to circulation in 2006 and was reissued on 10-inch vinyl in 2011. A version was issued in Japan in 1992 with Japanese liner notes.
