Bangles (EP)

"Bangles" is an extended play (EP) by the American pop rock band, The Bangles. It was initially released in 1982 by their self-recorded label, DownKiddie Records. The EP was reissued in 2016, elevating its status once again. "Bangles" serves as the debut musical endeavor of the band and holds great significance in their discography.

Originally, the girl group was known as The Bangs but was renamed to The Bangles, following a legal issue. The band members at the time of this EP were Susanna Hoffs (vocals and rhythm guitar), Vicki Peterson (lead guitar and vocals), Debbi Peterson (drums and vocals), and Annette Zilinskas (bass and vocals). It included five tracks, namely, "The Real World", "I'm in Line", "Want You", "Mary Street", and "How Is The Air Up There".

The songs in the EP showcase the band's signature sound, blending 60's-style sunshine pop with a more modern, post-punk sensibility. The EP garnered positive reviews and set the stage for The Bangles' later success, providing them with initial recognition in the music industry.

Regrettably, not much comprehensive information on this EP is publicly available, as it came out before the band gained international fame with later releases such as "All Over The Place", "Different Light", and "Everything". Nonetheless, "Bangles" EP is a significant piece of their musical career, marking the starting point of their journey to becoming one of the most popular and influential girl bands of the 1980s.
