Some Fantastic Place

"Some Fantastic Place" is the tenth studio album by the British new wave group Squeeze, released in September 1993 by A&M Records. This album marks the first release since the departure of original drummer Gilson Lavis and features Pete Thomas on drums. It also includes the brief return of keyboardist/vocalist Paul Carrack, who had previously contributed to East Side Story (1981). Notably, "Loving You Tonight" is only the second Squeeze song in thirteen years to feature Carrack on lead vocals. Additionally, bassist Keith Wilkinson contributed "True Colours (The Storm)," the first song on a Squeeze album not written by Glenn Tilbrook, Chris Difford, or Jools Holland.

The album is characterized by its pop rock style and was produced by Squeeze alongside Peter Smith. The recording sessions, held in Tilbrook's newly built personal studios, involved significant discussions about song structures, which the band felt contributed to the album's passionate sound. Unusually, Tilbrook and Difford collaborated on songwriting rather than working separately, which they believed helped revitalize their creative partnership. Some Fantastic Place was released to critical acclaim and reached number 26 on the UK Albums Chart. The title track remains a favorite among Difford and Tilbrook.
