Prior to the album's release, the EP Holding Our Breath, which featured "Catch the Breeze" from the album, was issued on CD and 12" vinyl on June 3, 1991, along with a 7" vinyl single of "Catch the Breeze." In the United States, the album was released by SBK Records in 1992. On November 14, 2005, a remastered edition of Just for a Day was released by Sanctuary Records' subsidiary label Castle Music, including an extra disc with tracks from the band's first three EPs: Slowdive, Morningrise, and Holding Our Breath.
