Clairvoyance

"Clairvoyance" is the debut studio album by American rock band Screaming Trees, released in 1986. The band was formed in Ellensburg, Washington, in 1984 and consisted of Mark Lanegan (vocals), Gary Lee Conner (guitar), Van Conner (bass), and Mark Pickerel (drums). Their sound is often associated with the early grunge movement, blending elements of punk, psychedelic rock, and garage rock.

"Clairvoyance" was recorded at Seattle’s Velvetone studio with producer Steve Fisk, who was known for his work in the region's burgeoning independent music scene. The album showcases the band’s early psychedelic influences and is marked by a raw, energetic sound that foreshadows their later, more polished work.

The album helped the band gain a foothold in the Pacific Northwest music scene and laid the groundwork for their subsequent albums and eventual contribution to the mainstream popularity of grunge in the early 1990s. Despite the band’s underground status at the time of release, "Clairvoyance" demonstrates the early potential of Screaming Trees, displaying their unique blend of styles and emotive performances.
