Parachute

"Parachute" is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Pretty Things, released in 1970. It marks the first album by the band without guitarist Dick Taylor, who had been a key member since the band's early days.

Upon its release, Parachute received very positive reviews, with Billboard describing it as "another top-flight album" for the band. In 1975, Rolling Stone critic Steve Turner referred to it as a "Rolling Stone 'album of the year,'" though it was not officially listed among the magazine's Albums of the Year for 1970 or 1971. However, in later years, Stephen Holden of Rolling Stone called it an "obscure underground classic."

The lineup for this album included Phil May, Wally Waller, John Povey, Vic Unitt, and Skip Alan.

In 1975, Parachute was repackaged as a double LP with their previous album S.F. Sorrow, under the title S.F. Sorrow and Parachute in the UK on the Harvest Heritage series. It was again repackaged in 1976 as a double LP titled Real Pretty. In Canada, the album was released by Motown Records.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the album, Snapper Records released a double CD edition in September 2010, which included acoustic reworkings of various tracks recorded in May 2010 by Wally Waller and Phil May.
