"Lightning Bolt" is the tenth studio album by Pearl Jam, released on October 15, 2013, in the United States and a day earlier internationally. Produced by Brendan O'Brien, the album marks a return to a harder rock sound and features longer tracks compared to their previous album, Backspacer.

The songwriting process began in 2011, with initial recording sessions in early 2012. However, the band took a break to focus on individual projects, resuming work in March 2013. This extended hiatus allowed the band members to bring fresh ideas and experiences to the album. The recording took place at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles and later in Seattle, where the album was mixed.

Lightning Bolt showcases a more experimental sound, with influences ranging from punk rock to elements reminiscent of Pink Floyd. The lead singles, "Mind Your Manners" and "Sirens," reflect these influences, tackling themes of aging, mortality, and social issues. The lyrics, penned by Eddie Vedder, reveal a more straightforward approach, addressing personal and societal reflections.
