Get Ready

Get Ready is the seventh studio album by the English rock band New Order. The album was released on 27 August 2001 in the United Kingdom and 16 October 2001 in the United States. This marks the first album the band released after their reunion, their previous album (Republic) having been released in 1993.

For this album, the band reunited with their long-term collaborator, producer Stephen Hague, resulting in a more rock-oriented sound. The album features, notably, guest appearances from Billy Corgan (on "Turn My Way"), Ana Matronic from Scissor Sisters ("Jetstream"), and the return of bassist Peter Hook, who had announced his departure from the band in 2007.

Several singles were released from the album, including "Crystal", which peaked at number eight on the UK Singles Chart and is one of the band's better-known songs. Other singles include “60 Miles an Hour” and "Someone Like You".

Content-wise, the album's mood is generally more upbeat and optimistic compared to New Order's previous works, which had a darker, edgier vibe to them. Critics generally responded favorably to the album, stating it was a successful comeback.

Physically, it was released in several forms: CD, cassette, LP and MD; as well as a special edition hard-bound book from the lavish packaging specialists at Boxed, containing the CD, a 28-page booklet, a new recording from video artist Johnnie Cross, and a promo video for "Crystal".

Get Ready remains significant as it represented a strong and successful comeback for New Order, consolidating their place in the music world. It continues to influence artists today and is seen as an important release in the band's body of work. With its mix of synthesizers and guitars, it also highlights how New Order's sound has evolved over the years.
