Homegrown (Neil Young album)

"Homegrown" is an album by musician Neil Young that was originally intended to be released in 1975 but was ultimately shelved. It eventually saw the light of day on June 19, 2020, under Reprise Records. The album is composed largely of acoustic solo tracks and softer numbers featuring backing musicians.

The album was recorded after Young's infamous tour with The Stills-Young Band, during a period of immense grief and heartbreak for him, following his break-up from actress Carrie Snodgress. Its music and lyrics reflect Young's pain from this time. The songs were intended to be a personal reflection of his private life and were not originally intended for public consumption. At the time, Young felt the album was too personal and decided not to release it, instead opting for "Tonight's the Night", another album he recorded around the same time.

The album notably includes tracks such as "Love Is a Rose," "Homegrown," and "White Line," which had been played in live performances or were included in other Neil Young albums, albeit in different versions, and "Try," a song which was unknown to his fans until this album's release.
