Eat Me, Drink Me

"Eat Me, Drink Me" is the sixth studio album by American rock band Marilyn Manson. Released on June 5, 2007, the album is marked by a thematic departure from the band's earlier projects, focusing more on personal and relationship issues, in contrast to their typical anti-religious and political themes.

The album was primarily recorded in the home studio of guitarist and band's new member, Tim Skold. This was the first album since "Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)" to not include long time member Madonna Wayne Gacy.

Marilyn Manson, the frontman of the band, described "Eat Me, Drink Me" as "an autobiographical account of his life" at the time. The title of this album reflects Manson's interest in vampire mythology, directly quoting Jesus Christ's words on the sacrament of the Eucharist, linking the themes of love, romance, and vampirism.

In terms of the album's sound, it is distinct for its more melodic and less aggressive style. This is seen in songs like "If I Was Your Vampire," "Just A Car Crash Away," and "Evidence" where Gothic rock and Glam rock influences come to the fore.

The album generated polarizing reviews from critics upon its release. Some praised its introspective style, while others criticized its lack of aggression and themes commonly associated with the band. Despite the mixed reviews, the album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 88,000 copies in its first week.

After the release of "Eat Me, Drink Me", Marilyn Manson and the band followed the album with "The High End of Low" in 2009 and continued their successful career in the music industry.
