Live at Woodstock (Jimi Hendrix album)

"Live at Woodstock" is a posthumous live album by American rock musician Jimi Hendrix, released by MCA Records on July 6, 1999. It features 11 songs from the phenomenal performance by The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Woodstock festival in Bethel, New York on August 18, 1969, one of Hendrix's most famous and iconic live performances.

Given as the headliner, Jimi Hendrix was one of the most anticipated performances at Woodstock. Although scheduled to play at midnight on Sunday, it was Monday morning by the time he took the stage, due to the concert's running over its intended schedule. Despite the fact that Hendrix was playing to a much diminished crowd, he still managed to put on a show that would go down in history.

The album contains all of the songs from the concert, in the original order they were performed, except for Hear My Train' A Comin' and his improvised jam, Villanova Junction. Numerous versions of these tracks were officially released on other live albums by Hendrix.

The album was engineered by Eddie Kramer, a long-time collaborator of Hendrix, and contains powerful performances of notable tracks like "Purple Haze," "Foxy lady," "Fire," an electrifying rendition of "Star Spangled Banner," and a 14 minute version of "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)." The album offers listeners an immersive experience of Jimi's Woodstock performance, making it a key part of his discography.
