Dream Street

"Dream Street" is the second studio album by American singer Janet Jackson, released on October 23, 1984. Following her self-titled debut album, "Dream Street" continued to establish Jackson as an artist while she was still a teenager. The album was produced by a team that included her father, Joe Jackson, and the renowned disco producer Giorgio Moroder.

Musically, "Dream Street" incorporates a mix of pop, R&B, and dance elements. It features contributions from various songwriters and musicians, including Angela Winbush, René Moore, and Jesse Johnson. Despite its high production value, the album did not perform as well commercially as Janet's later works, peaking at number 147 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Some of the notable tracks from the album include the title track "Dream Street" and the singles "Don't Stand Another Chance" and "Two to the Power of Love," a duet with Cliff Richard. "Don't Stand Another Chance" became a minor hit, reaching the top ten on the US R&B chart.

At this stage in her career, Janet Jackson was still largely influenced by her family and industry connections. However, her next album, "Control," released in 1986, marked a significant turning point where she gained greater artistic independence and achieved considerable success.

"Dream Street" is often seen as a transitional album that laid the groundwork for her subsequent breakthrough, showcasing her potential and hinting at the superstar she would become in just a few years.
