Greatest Hits

"Greatest Hits" is a compilation album by Icelandic musician Björk, released on November 4, 2002, through One Little Indian. The album includes a selection of Björk's singles, chosen by her fans through two online surveys on her website. The tracks are arranged in descending order of popularity, though the new song "It's in Our Hands" appears at the end of the compilation, rather than following the fan voting order.

There were two surveys conducted: one where fans voted for their favorite singles, and another for their favorite tracks in general, including album cuts and B-sides. This sometimes caused confusion, as the rankings from the single-track survey did not always align with the overall survey. For example, "Hyperballad" was the most-voted song in the overall survey, but it appears as the second track on the album.

Several tracks were included in their remixed versions, such as the Fluke remix of "Big Time Sensuality" and the version of "Possibly Maybe" with the electronic elements that had been removed from the Post album version. The single version of "All Is Full of Love" is also featured.

Notably, some of Björk’s biggest hits were not included in the compilation. "It's Oh So Quiet," her highest-charting UK single, is absent, along with "Alarm Call," "I Miss You," "Cocoon," and "Violently Happy." Additionally, there is no pre-Debut material in the collection.

The album covers tracks from several of Björk's major albums: Debut (1993) with "Human Behaviour," "Big Time Sensuality," and "Venus as a Boy"; Post (1995) with "Hyperballad," "Army of Me," "Isobel," and "Possibly Maybe"; Homogenic (1997) with "All Is Full of Love," "Jóga," "Bachelorette," and "Hunter"; and Vespertine (2001) with "Pagan Poetry" and "Hidden Place."

The artwork for the album was designed in collaboration with Icelandic contemporary artist Gabríela Friðriksdóttir and is the only Björk album cover that includes both a logo and a title.

The album was released alongside Family Tree, a box set containing a "greatest hits" disc selected by Björk herself. Seven tracks appear on both compilations. Greatest Hits was also listed on Blender magazine's "500 CDs You Must Own."
