Loveboat

"Loveboat" is the ninth full-length studio album by the English synth-pop duo Erasure, released in the UK by Mute Records in 2000. Produced by Erasure and Flood, it became their least successful album in terms of sales and chart performance since their debut, Wonderland, in 1986.

At the time, Erasure's US record label, Maverick Records, shelved the album due to a perceived lack of hit singles. Fans largely panned the album upon its release, criticizing its increased use of acoustic guitars, lo-fi feel, and heavy bass sounds, often attributing these issues to Flood's production. However, some music critics offered positive reviews.

Loveboat did not reach the Top 40 in the UK, and while two singles were released, only one was eligible to chart. Maverick requested re-recordings and remixes of several tracks before agreeing to release it. Although "Moon & the Sky" was reworked, Maverick ultimately never released it and dropped Erasure from their roster. In 2003, three years after its UK release, Mute Records managed to release the album in the US in its original form, following Erasure's album Other People's Songs. Loveboat did not chart on the Billboard 200.

The planned third single was "Alien," with discussions about a music video featuring Andy and Vince in outfits reminiscent of their 1986 single, "Sometimes." The cover artwork was created by Martin Gardiner.
