Farm (album)

"Farm" is the ninth studio album by Dinosaur Jr., an American alternative rock band. Released on the Jagjaguwar label, it marked a new phase for the band in terms of both label and sound.

Initially, early editions of "Farm" included a special white-vinyl 7-inch with live recordings of "I Don't Wanna Go There" and "Tarpit," produced for Pitchfork TV. However, the European release encountered a mastering error, with volumes being too loud by 3 dB. PIAS Recordings, the European label, promptly recalled these copies for replacement with corrected versions.

The album's promotional efforts included a music video for "Over It," directed by Mark Locke. The video depicted band members engaging in BMX bike and skateboard stunts across an urban landscape, with professional riders doubling as stunt performers. Notably, the video featured a cameo from Mike Watt.

"Farm" achieved significant commercial success, debuting at No. 29 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Dinosaur Jr.'s highest-charting album in the United States at the time. It also received recognition in Europe, earning a double silver certification from the Independent Music Companies Association in 2012, indicating sales of over 40,000 copies across the continent. The album's blend of alternative rock sound and successful marketing efforts contributed to its positive reception and commercial achievements.
