Waking Up the Neighbours

"Waking Up the Neighbours" is the sixth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Bryan Adams, released on September 24, 1991. Recorded at Battery Studios in London and The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, the album was mixed at Mayfair Studios in London and mastered by Bob Ludwig at Masterdisk in New York City.

The album received critical acclaim and topped the charts in at least eight countries, becoming Adams' second best-selling album worldwide. Its lead single, "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," achieved remarkable success, holding the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart for a record sixteen consecutive weeks. Additionally, the album sparked controversy in Canada regarding the Canadian content regulations.

The performance of Bryan Adams' 1987 album Into the Fire was seen as somewhat disappointing, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard chart and No. 2 in Canada, but failing to match the commercial success of his fourth album, Reckless. It was also notable as the last collaboration between Adams and longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance.

Attempts to record a new album in 1988 with producer Steve Lillywhite did not yield any releases. Afterward, Adams teamed up with renowned producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, known for his work with AC/DC, Def Leppard, and others. They began recording at Battery Studios in England and The Warehouse Studios in Canada in March 1990, completing the process in June 1991. Lange's meticulous approach to songwriting significantly influenced Adams, leading to an extended recording timeline. Consequently, the album's release, initially set for fall 1990, faced multiple delays. Lange is credited on all 15 tracks, including four songs that had demo versions recorded with Vallance.
