Storm the Gates

"Storm the Gates" is the fifteenth studio album by the British heavy metal band Venom, released on December 14, 2018. Venom is often credited as one of the pioneering bands of the black metal genre, and they are known for their influential style that combines elements of thrash and speed metal with dark, blasphemous themes.

The album "Storm the Gates" showcases Venom's signature raw and aggressive sound, featuring a mixture of fast and heavy tracks alongside more mid-tempo, groove-oriented songs. The lineup on this album consists of the band’s long-time frontman and bassist Cronos, joined by guitarist Rage and drummer Danté. This lineup, consistent since 2009, allows for a cohesive and powerful sound throughout the record.

Lyrically, "Storm the Gates" explores themes typical of Venom’s style, such as darkness, rebellion, and the occult, with a generally defiant and rebellious attitude. The album received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising its energy and adherence to Venom's classic sound, while others felt it lacked innovation compared to the band’s earlier groundbreaking work.

Overall, "Storm the Gates" serves as a testament to Venom’s enduring presence in the metal scene, maintaining the raw edge and attitude that has defined their music for decades.
