"Universal Hall" marks the eighth studio album from The Waterboys, hitting the music scene in 2003. Named after the esteemed theatre and performance space at the Findhorn Foundation, depicted on its striking album cover, this release takes a notable departure from its predecessor, "A Rock in the Weary Land," with a pronounced folk music influence.

Featuring the return of Steve Wickham, a core member of the post-reunion band, "Universal Hall" sees The Waterboys at their most spiritually introspective. Frontman Mike Scott describes the album as a collection of "eleven spiritual songs" alongside an Irish reel, reflecting his deeply personal vision and transformative journey. The album's cover, designed by art director Steve Manson, adds to its mystique and allure.

While tracks like "Every Breath Is Yours" draw comparisons to Nick Drake's style, the standout "Seek the Light" diverges into the realm of contemporary dance music, infusing electronica elements. The incorporation of "Etheric Currents" from the album "Cosmic Breath," featuring May East and Craig Gibsone, adds a layer of sonic exploration.
