"The Ocean Blue" is the eponymous debut studio album from the American indie pop band- The Ocean Blue, released in 1989. The band members consisted of David Schelzel on lead vocals and guitar, Steve Lau on keyboards and saxophone, Bobby Mittan on bass guitar, and Rob Minnig on drums and vocals.

The Ocean Blue was recognized for the melodic, dreamy pop sound that echoed influences such as The Smiths and R.E.M. Their first record was an immediate success, seeing the hit singles "Between Something and Nothing" and "Drifting, Falling" topping the Billboard Indie Pop charts and gaining the band substantial popularity at the time.

The album was produced by Mark Opitz on the Sire Records label, which also featured significant bands like Echo & the Bunnymen and The Replacements. The tracks were recorded at Dreamland Recording Studios in Woodstock, New York.
