Secrets

״Secrets״ is the eighth studio album by British synth-pop band The Human League, released on August 06, 2001, by Papillon Records. It marked the band's return to the studio after a six-year hiatus. Although the album received positive reviews from critics, it struggled commercially and did not achieve significant chart success.

Secrets features The Human League as a trio of singers—Philip Oakey, Joanne Catherall, and Susan Ann Sulley (credited as Susan Ann Gayle). Neil Sutton, a band member since *Octopus*, contributed songwriting and keyboards.

Following their previous album, Octopus, the band signed with Papillon Records in May 2000. They recorded Secrets with the production team TOY, which included former ABC members Dave Clayton, Q, and Kerry Hopwood, at their studio in Sheffield.

In promoting the album, Oakey mentioned in a Guardian interview that both he and Sulley had faced personal struggles in the nineties, including using Prozac. He described Secrets as reflecting "the overall feeling of mental illness."

The album consists of sixteen tracks, with seven being short, transitional instrumentals. Oakey noted in 2003 that he was particularly pleased with Secrets, more so than with any other album.
