Horehound (album)

"Horehound" is the debut studio album by American rock band, The Dead Weather. The band itself was formed in 2009 and comprised of notable musicians including Jack White (The White Stripes and The Raconteurs), Alison Mosshart (Kills), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age), and Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs and The Greenhornes). The album was released on July 10, 2009, on White's own label, Third Man Records.

The music on "Horehound" is a blend of blues rock, garage rock, and punk blues. The album comprises of 11 tracks and includes one cover song – “New Pony”- originally by Bob Dylan. One of the notable tracks, “Treat Me Like Your Mother,” was released as the lead single. The album also features “Hang You From the Heavens,” which was the first song the band wrote together.

Upon its release, "Horehound" received generally positive reviews from music critics, praising its raw energy, and the blend of styles from the various band members. The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200, underscoring its commercial success, in addition to its critical acclaim.
