Thirsty Work

"Thirsty Work" is the 20th studio album by the English rock band Status Quo. Released in February 1994 under the label Polygram, the album marked a significant change in the band's sound, incorporating elements of contemporary pop music. This was done in a bid to attract a new, younger audience while retaining their traditional fan base.

The album is known to stand out among Status Quo's discography for its significant deviation from the band's typical boogie rock sound. Instead, it features more keyboard synth sounds, harmonies and pop-oriented elements, which divided the opinion of fans and critics alike.

There are numerous tracks on the album, including a cover of Jennifer Warnes' "I'm Restless" and "Survival," co-written by keyboard player Andrew Bown. The best-known tracks from the album include "Goin' Nowhere" and "I Didn't Mean It", the latter of which was released as a single and reached number 21 in the UK Singles Chart.

Sales of "Thirsty Work" were considerably lower than previous albums by the band, and it didn't receive any certifications. Nevertheless, it still stands as an intriguing moment in the band's extensive career, being indicative of their willingness to experiment with their established sound.
