Never Too Late

"Never Too Late" is the fourteenth studio album by the English rock band Status Quo. Released in March 1981, this album was the third to feature the late 70s lineup and consists of a variety of rock tracks with elements of new wave and hard rock infused into their classic boogie rock sound. The album peaked at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart, retaining their established popularity.

Three singles were released from "Never Too Late". The album's opener "Something 'Bout You Baby I Like" was the most successful, reaching number 9 in the UK Singles Charts. The two other singles, "Take Me Away" and "Never Too Late", weren't commercially as successful but are still fan favorites.

The album was recorded and mixed at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin, marking a departure from the band's previous studio work done predominantly in London. This was also their last album to be produced by Pip Williams, ending their era of high-produced records, as they returned to a harder-edged sound with subsequent albums.

Lyrically, the songs on "Never Too Late" reflect the band's usual themes of love, life on the road, and personal experiences. Despite line-up changes and evolving music styles, "Never Too Late" marked a successful continuation for Status Quo in the music industry. Significantly, this was the final album to feature drummer John Coghlan, one of the band's founding members, who left shortly after its release.
