Made to Be Broken

"Made to Be Broken" is the second full-length studio album from the American rock band, Soul Asylum. It was launched initially in 1986 under the Twin/Tone Records label. This masterpiece is marked as an important development in the band's progress, as it saw the group stepping away from their earlier punk sound towards a more alternative rock style.

On this album, Soul Asylum further showcased their musical versatility because of the diverse range of styles. The tracks on this release incorporate melodies from punk rock, hard rock, and even country, a direction that was not commonly followed by different alternative bands during the 1980s.

"Made to Be Broken" was critically acclaimed, and despite Soul Asylum still being relatively lesser-known outside of their hometown Minneapolis, the record helped to build their reputation countrywide. Finally, it was re-released by Twin/Tone Records, which included five additional tracks that weren't present in the original album.
