Live album

"R.E.M. Live" is a live album by the iconic rock band R.E.M., recorded during their performances at the Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland, on February 26 and 27, 2005. These concerts marked the closing of the winter European leg of their Around the World Tour, supporting their thirteenth studio album, Around the Sun, which was released in late 2004. The album was released in the UK on October 15, 2007, and in the US a day later, available as both a two-CD audio set and a DVD. A triple vinyl version followed in February 2008.

The album captures a dynamic setlist, featuring rare performances of tracks like "I Took Your Name" from the 1994 album Monster and "Ascent of Man" from Around the Sun, alongside the previously unreleased "I'm Gonna DJ." A studio version of "I'm Gonna DJ" would later appear on their 2008 album, Accelerate.

The DVD offers both stereo and digital 5.1 surround sound options, enhancing the live experience. The album cover is particularly striking, showcasing an image of lead singer Michael Stipe with his stage makeup running, taken during a performance in Durban, South Africa, on March 8, 2005. Stipe described the intense heat of that show, saying, "It was the hottest recorded stage we ever performed on... the makeup was dripping off my face." This memorable image became iconic, representing the band's live energy and commitment.

In a unique promotional effort, R.E.M. launched the R.E.M. Live Zine on September 26, 2007, inviting fans to share their reviews and experiences of the shows, further connecting with their audience.
