New Blood

"New Blood" is the ninth studio album by English rock musician Peter Gabriel, released on 10 October 2011. The album features orchestral re-recordings of various tracks from Gabriel's career.

The album continues the project Gabriel began with his previous album, Scratch My Back, which consisted of orchestral covers of other artists' songs. The idea originated from rearranging Gabriel's songs for orchestra during the second half of his shows on the Scratch My Back tour in 2010. He collaborated with arranger John Metcalfe and initially intended to use homemade instruments for the re-recordings, but found them lacking in range and tonal expression.

Gabriel expressed a desire for the album to not focus solely on hits, stating, "So there's no 'Sledgehammer'." He was initially uncertain about including "Red Rain" and redoing "Don't Give Up" without Kate Bush but ultimately felt they fit well. The album also features a new song, "A Quiet Moment," which was created to separate "Solsbury Hill," a track that was remade due to high demand, from the rest of the album. Initially, there was a plan for three minutes of silence to serve as a separator, but Gabriel decided that "A Quiet Moment" would work better.
