Foreverly

"Foreverly" (stylized as foreverly) is a collaborative album by Green Day singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and jazz/pop singer-songwriter Norah Jones. It was released on November 25, 2013, through Reprise Records. The album is a reinterpretation of the 1958 album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us by The Everly Brothers and features a collection of traditional songs. The lead single, "Long Time Gone," was promoted with a lyric video released on November 13, 2013, followed by a music video for "Silver Haired Daddy of Mine" five days later.

In an interview with Stereogum, Armstrong shared that the project began after he and Jones met while singing together with Stevie Wonder. He explained that he became interested in the Everly Brothers' album a couple of years prior and wanted to remake it with a female singer to add a new layer of meaning to the songs. His wife suggested he reach out to Norah Jones, and after a phone call, she agreed to collaborate on the project.

The recording of Foreverly began with the first song from Songs Our Daddy Taught Us, as Armstrong and Jones were unsure where else to start. Jones spoke about the initial challenges of harmonizing with Armstrong, but once they heard the first track, they became more comfortable. The album was recorded during a five-day session, with one track being forgotten until a later session. After a few weeks, they reassembled to finish the album, refining some of the earlier tracks. Jones expressed that she appreciated working in two sessions, allowing them to reflect on the songs and make necessary adjustments to achieve the desired sound.
