Push and Shove

"Push and Shove" is the sixth studio album by American rock band No Doubt, released on September 21, 2012, by Interscope Records. This album marked a significant comeback for the band, arriving 11 years after their previous release, Rock Steady.

The album includes a mix of genres, showcasing the band's signature ska and pop influences alongside modern sounds. A deluxe edition features acoustic versions and remixes, along with the 2009 cover of "Stand and Deliver."

Push and Shove debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, selling 115,000 copies in its first week. The lead single, "Settle Down," was released in July 2012, peaking at number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100. The title track features collaborations with Major Lazer and Jamaican artist Busy Signal, while "Looking Hot" followed as the second single from the album. The record is noted for its energetic sound and reflects the band’s growth over the years.

No Doubt released their fifth studio album, Rock Steady, in December 2001, which achieved significant commercial success, selling three million copies worldwide and earning a double platinum certification from the RIAA. Following the album's release, the band entered a hiatus in April 2003, allowing members to spend time with their families. During this break, lead singer Gwen Stefani pursued a solo career, releasing two albums: Love. Angel. Music. Baby. in 2004 and The Sweet Escape in 2006.

While Stefani was busy promoting her solo work, the other members of No Doubt began initial preparations for a new album, intending to complete it after her tour. In March 2008, Stefani revealed that songwriting had begun but was progressing slowly due to her pregnancy. The band planned to work with producer Mark "Spike" Stent, who had previously collaborated on Rock Steady. However, they faced writer's block, leading them to focus on touring instead.

In 2009, No Doubt announced their Summer Tour, featuring a lineup that included Paramore and Katy Perry. As part of the tour promotion, they offered fans a free digital download of their entire music catalog with the purchase of premium tickets. This engagement kept excitement alive for their forthcoming album, which they aimed to release in 2010.
