"Younger Now" is Miley Cyrus's sixth studio album, released on September 29, 2017. It marks a significant chapter in her artistic journey, particularly following her provocative earlier works like Bangerz (2013) and the experimental Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015). The album emerged from her reconciliation with fiancé Liam Hemsworth in 2016, influencing its sound and thematic direction.

Working again with producer Oren Yoel, Cyrus aimed for a more authentic feel, focusing less on radio airplay and more on her musical roots. The album blends country pop and pop rock, featuring guest vocals from her godmother, Dolly Parton, which adds a familial touch to the project. While Younger Now debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200, it received mixed reviews. Critics pointed out that the songwriting and production felt somewhat lacking in depth.

Two singles were released from the album: "Malibu" and the title track, "Younger Now." "Malibu" became particularly successful, earning double platinum certification from the RIAA and reaching number ten on the Billboard Hot 100. In an effort to reshape her public image, Cyrus embraced a more conservative aesthetic and performed at various major events, including the Billboard Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.

Despite the promotional efforts, just a month after the album's release, Cyrus announced she would not continue with singles or a tour for this album, opting instead to focus on her role as a coach on The Voice. Reflecting on the album later, she expressed that Younger Now wasn't quite the right fit for her and credited her collaboration with Mark Ronson for helping her evolve her sound for future projects.
