Issues

"Issues" is the fourth studio album by American nu metal band Korn. Being released on November 16, 1999, it marked a return for the band to a simpler, more raw and family-oriented sound as found on their debut album. This was a sharp turnaround from the heavily produced and more melodic sound on their preceding album, "Follow the Leader."

The album kicks off with a bagpipe prelude, a reference to vocalist Jonathan Davis’ Scottish heritage, followed by a mix of abrasive, dark melodies and heavy guitar riffs. Notable tracks include "Falling Away From Me," "Make Me Bad," and "Somebody Someone," which all became popular singles. Lyrically, the album touches on themes such as social alienation, depression, and personal encounters with addiction, reflecting the personal struggles of the band at the time of recording.

"Issues" debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling over 573,000 copies in its first week of release, and has since achieved triple platinum status in the United States. The album was well-received by critics, and its release was accompanied by a special album release show that aired on MTV called "Korn's After Show," demonstrating the band's continued popularity and influence within the nu-metal genre.

The cover artwork was chosen through a fan contest, the winning piece being designed by Alfredo Carlos. The popularity and critical acclaim of "Issues" solidified Korn's place as one of the leading bands not only in the nu-metal genre, but in the heavy metal world as a whole.
