Wedding Album

"Wedding Album" is the third and final experimental album by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, following Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins and Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions. Released in 1969, the album features a unique structure and concept, credited simply to "John and Yoko" in Britain, while in the U.S., it appears as "John Ono Lennon & Yoko Ono Lennon."

The album is divided into two sides. The first side, "John & Yoko," was recorded on April 22 and 27, 1969. This side features Lennon and Ono calling each other's names over the sound of their heartbeats, which Lennon likened to "African drums." The piece is an emotional exploration of their relationship, with varying volume and tempo, and was edited together by Lennon on May 1, 1969.

The second side, "Amsterdam," was recorded earlier during their "Bed-In" for peace at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam from March 25 to 31, 1969. It includes interviews about their peace campaign, ambient sounds, and various musical interludes. Notable moments include Lennon performing a blues-style song titled "Goodbye Amsterdam Goodbye," Ono singing "Grow Your Hair," and an a cappella snippet of the Beatles' "Good Night." The side concludes with a recitation of "Bed peace" and "Hair peace."

Promotional 7" vinyl acetates featuring outtakes and interviews from the Bed-In were also released by Bell. Overall, Wedding Album reflects the couple's avant-garde artistic vision and their commitment to peace activism.
