I and II

"I" and "II" are the twelfth and thirteenth studio albums by John Frusciante, released on February 3, 2023, through Avenue 66. *I* is a vinyl-exclusive release with seven tracks, while *II* is available digitally and on CD, featuring additional material that could not be pressed on vinyl. The albums contrast with Frusciante’s structured rock work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2022, as he sought to create music with gradual progressions rather than sudden changes. He primarily used analog synthesizers like the Elektron Monomachine and Analog Four MK II, drawing inspiration from Jimi Hendrix and Brian Eno’s ambient music.
