Strays

"Strays" is the third studio album by American rock band Jane's Addiction, released on July 22, 2003, by Capitol Records. This album marks the band's return after a 13-year hiatus since their previous studio release, Ritual de lo Habitual (1990). During the interim, Jane's Addiction had released a compilation album, Kettle Whistle (1997), which included new songs, but Strays is their first full studio album since their earlier work. It also introduces bassist Chris Chaney, marking a significant change in the band's lineup.

The decision to record Strays came after the band had completed two successful reunion tours performing their classic material. Drummer Stephen Perkins mentioned that the band was eager for a "new challenge," which contributed to their decision to produce new music.

Upon its release, Strays was commercially successful, debuting at number four on the Billboard 200 with 110,500 copies sold in its first week. It was eventually certified Gold by the RIAA. The lead single, "Just Because," received notable recognition, including a Grammy Award nomination in 2004. The album's return to the music scene was well-received, with the band successfully reestablishing themselves in the rock music landscape after their long break.
